Review of The Alchemyst

The Alchemyst is a series of books by Michael Scott. The first book is called the Alchemyst, and there are five others. I read the first one, the second one, and third one. There are six total. The first two were pretty good if you like fantasy fiction, but then the third one started to get kind of boring. It was just the same thing–the same story. The two main characters were trying to train themselves in the art of magic. By the time I got to the third book, I felt like it was the same story I had already read. On a scale of one to five stars (with five being the best), I would give it three and three-quarters.

Here are some questions to think about for a book club discussion. These are general questions that can apply to any book. I’ll add some more specific questions next time.

  1. Did you like the book?
  2. What was your favorite part?
  3. Who was your favorite character?
  4. Why was this your favorite character?
  5. Think about a time your favorite character made a choice that you would change. Why would you change that choice?

Let me know what you think of the book. Leave a comment.
